Subaru Commercial Shoot

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Last week, I went to Studio One to record a commercial with writing team of Omri Schein and James Olmstead. Omri is San Diego based and James is in NYC. He is working on the upcoming Devil Wears Prada musical and the Britney Spears musical on the music teams and also they are writing new works too. Geno Carr (of Broadway’s Come from Away) played Doug, the Subaru sales associate guiding us through the show - it really is a show - “Subaru the Musical!”

Then on Sunday, we had a 12-hour shoot with chores and lip-syncing on the car lot at Subaru of El Cajon! Holy cow did my body need a week of recovery from that! The commercial will air on Cox in July and potentially in movie theaters moving forward.

I play Assistant Manager Debbie (i.e. “belting Debbie”), and I get a little feature to riff, belt my face off, and flirt with the customers. We had some super fun choreography and direction from NYC director and SDSU tenured-professor, Stephen Brotebeck.

I did the thing! With live vaccinated people! It was so fun!
